Churches of Scientology and Their Activities
Parishioners study Scientology technology and receive auditing in Scientology churches around the world. Yet whether in London, Sydney, San Francisco or any of hundreds of other locations on every continent, a church of Scientology has the same basic organizational structure and pattern of operation and performs the same functions. Each church has a common purpose to make the technology of L. Ron Hubbard available and to ensure it is properly learned and applied to the improvement of its parishioners and those in its local community. For these reasons, a church of Scientology is unique among churches - busy, bustling and geared to efficiency. In order to minister to the spiritual needs of expanding congregations and to ensure uniform application of Dianetics and Scientology, the worldwide churches of Scientology are organized in a hierarchical structure which includes the many public and special service organizations. This section provides an explanation of that hierarchy and how it functions to keep Scientology expanding. The churches have done much to improve society with their betterment and reform efforts and these programs too, are covered, demonstrating that spiritual gains achieved in Scientology translate into effective action to change our troubled world.
