(The term Flag denotes that this organization was first established on a ship, the Apollo. Beginning in 1967, Mr. Hubbard conducted his research into the upper levels of Scientology with a group of dedicated Scientologists aboard three ships. These advanced services were then delivered aboard the Apollo, flagship of the flotilla, until land-based organizations were established for greater accessibility.)
Based in Clearwater, Florida, the FSO, as it is known, is the largest single Scientology church in the world, with more than 1,000 staff members. As parishioners travel there from all over the world to receive auditing and training, staying for several weeks or even months at a time before returning home, the FSO also provides accommodations for church members in a distraction-free environment so they can make the most progress on the Bridge during their stay, without the turbulence of the day-to-day world.
Here, auditors train to the level of Class XII, which is the highest auditor classification in Scientology. The FSO also delivers Dianetics and Scientology services from the bottom of the Bridge through to New OT VII, plus certain specialized auditing services only available there.
Auditor training above Class VIII is exclusive to the FSO. Included among its staff are the most experienced and highly trained auditors, case supervisors, course supervisors and other training specialists on the planet. The FSO sets the technical standard in Scientology and enjoys a reputation for the highest standards of technical perfection. Churches and missions from around the world send their technical staff to be trained to Flag standards.
